Critical Update

Maintaining Connectivity: The 2026 ACP-to-Lifeline Bridge

The Affordable Connectivity Program has evolved. Here is what existing tablet owners need to know to avoid service interruption in February 2026.

⚠️ The 30-Day Usage Rule

Effective February 2026: To keep your free data plan active, the FCC requires you to use your device at least once every 30 days.

"Usage" includes:

  • Making a phone call
  • Sending a text message
  • Using cellular data (not Wi-Fi) to browse the web

If you do not use your device for 30 days, your provider will de-enroll you, and you may lose your service entirely.

I have an ACP Tablet—What now?

1. Check Your Status

Log in to your provider's website (e.g., AirTalk, Q Link). Confirm that your plan has been "Bridged" or "Grandfathered" into a Lifeline plan.

2. Verify Income

Lifeline requires proof that your income is under 135% of the Poverty Guidelines (ACP was 200%). You may receive a request to upload a new pay stub or tax return.

3. Keep the Device

Good news: The tablet you received is yours to keep. Even if you switch providers, the device is unlocked and can often be used with a new SIM card.
